This project is a demake of the card game from Inscryption. The main verb for this project is playing cards but is developed with the sacrifice mechanic. The card game should be fully functional complete with a table, hand, cards, and combat.

Something I really wanted to add to develop the verbs was cards with special abilities, such as being unblockable, being able to be a sacrifice without dying, and avoiding attacks from enemy creatures, but unfortunately both the limits of GB Studios tile limit for sprites as well as my wit's end and time constraints  prevented me from being able to implement special cards.

Also, while making this game I realized that a core part of the gameplay in Inscryption is building and modifying cards your deck as you go along, which is either very difficult or impossible in GB Studio. Overall, I was able to implement the card game's most simple mechanics, but the project lost a lot of its magic due to the limitations. I would love to tackle this demake again with a tool more advanced than GB Studio.


There are 2 known bugs.

a.) Sometimes the game will just freeze after a turn. I'm not sure why. I think it has to do with a lot of logic going on at the same time.

b.) Sometimes when you play for a while, the player sprite will completely glitch out on the table scene.


Questions:

1.) Are there any issues with the card game overall? Any bugs (not known) or weird quirks that don't make sense?

2.) How do you feel about the balance of the second level (red level)? I wanted to make something challenging but still winnable since the first level can end on the first turn frequently if played right.
